BROADCAST STEERING COMMITTEE HOSTS HEALTH PLAN MEETINGS

PITTSBURGH (June 17, 2004) AFTRA H&R Trustee and former AFTRA President Shelby Scott and Assistant National Executive Director Kim Roberts Hedgpeth were in Pittsburgh on Thursday, June 17, and met with members to discuss changes in the AFTRA H & R Fund. Mario Bulding, H&R Benefits Director also spoke.

As you may know, the Fund is facing difficult decisions in dealing with ballooning health costs and static revenue shortfall. To keep AFTRA strong, especially among our broadcast membership who are Plan participants, it is vitally important that we be well informed.

Two special meetings of the local Broadcast Steering Committee were held on June 17th, at 2:30 and 7:30 PM at the Hilton. Many station staffers attended the two meetings, including a major contingent from KDKA-TV, as well as other broadcasters and freelancers covered by the Health Fund.
