Mullen Casting for Foodland

Here's what they need.

A note about the Foodland characters:  Each character in the Foodland campaign is friendly in an old-fashioned type of way.  Think of the type of characters that can be found on TV Land in classic shows like the Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, Hazel, My Three Sons and Father Knows Best.  These are all likeable characters, very polite, very friendly, very well-spoken.  They are slightly over-the-top in their friendliness.  Think of “hello” as Hello!”, “thanks” as “thank you!”.  All of these characters should be very real and genuine.  Not announcery in their delivery at all.

Pete:  Pete is our main character and everyone’s favorite grocer.  He’s friendly, jovial and knows everyone’s name.  He’s the mayor of the neighborhood.  He’s 45-60 years old, very approachable, very helpful, can’t walk past someone without a good old-fashioned “hello!”.  He likes his job and likes interacting with people.  Everyone gets a smile from Pete. H e doesn’t have a big, booming bass voice. Think of friendly grocer characters like Sam the butcher from The Brady Bunch, and Sam Drucker from Green Acres and Petticoat Junction.

Mrs. Johnson:  She’s the cool mom in the neighborhood.  35-40 years old, she’s the mom that loves running around with her kids.   She has lots of energy, she’s friendly, fun happy.

Mrs. Fisher:  In her early to mid 30s she’s the neighborhood party-planner.  She knows how to create a good time for everyone and her friendly, personable personality makes her everyone’s favorite party guest.

Mrs. Hays:  She’s an African American woman in her mid to late 50’s.  She’s the kind, motherly teacher-type.  She’s quick to smile and always has a kind word to share.

Mrs. Williams:  She’s a coupon clipper and a bargain hunter.  She loves to shop and loves to save money even more.  30-35 years old, she’s proud of her eye for a bargain.  Like all our characters, she’s upbeat, happy and friendly.

Mrs. Taylor:  She’s the working mom on the go.  Always on the go, she loves her ability to do it all.  35-45 years old, she’s a bundle of busy energy.

Mr. Davis:  He’s the guy that’s always going.  30-35 years old, he’s a hard-working businessman who loves getting home after work to spend time with his family.  He’s always upbeat and happy with a good word for everyone he meets.

Truck Driver:  He’s the regular, friendly delivery guy and has a great relationship with Pete.  40-50 years old, he likes his job and has more than a little pride in the product he delivers.
